I wonder where the finger lime, which is native to the tropical north of Australia, came from. Did it arise there originally, or was it the result of trade hundreds or thousands of years ago?

From my research, Australian limes can also be considered native species, since they are not the result of hybridization precisely due to Australia's nature as an island. Therefore, they developed independently, and it was only in more recent times that hybridization has been carried out by humans...
